Far more than just a caffeine kick, a cup of coffee is both a morning ritual and cultural tradition; a moment of solitude or social interaction, depending on how you take your brew. It’s said that Voltaire drank up to 50 cups per day mixed with chocolate, while American author Frank Baum liked his coffee so strong he could float a spoon on it.
Considered a social hub as much as a coffee shop, Karo Coffee Roasters in Bangkok is lauded for its inclusive, community-driven ethos and house-roasted blends, which use ethically sourced beans from around the world. As part of a campaign to highlight the positive impact of micro-journeys – such as going for a specialty coffee, taking a mini-break or stopping for a moment to appreciate your own city – ROADBOOK has partnered with Karo Coffee Roasters to celebrate the transformative effect of a cup of coffee as well as Bangkok’s thriving coffee scene.
From 20 June to 20 July, 2024, visitors to Karo Coffee Roasters who purchase any of Karo’s specialty coffee drinks have the chance to win a two-night stay, including breakfast, at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok to experience the equally transformative benefits of a staycation. The five-star hotel, perched behind Lumpini Park in the upscale Phloen Chit district, is noted for its sleek design, infinity pool and destination rooftop bar – and is considered one of the best hotels in the city.
How to enter
1. Purchase a drink at Karo Coffee Roasters.
2. Take a picture of the cup in front of your favourite spot in Bangkok.
3. Follow @ROADBOOK and @karocoffeeroasters on Instagram.
4. Upload the photo to Instagram stories and grid and include the hashtag #BangkokCoffeeViews.
5. Tag a friend you enjoy a coffee with.
Terms and conditions
1. For customers who post multiple photos during the campaign, a maximum of three entries will be accepted according to the criteria above.
2. The prize is a two-night stay in an Essential Room, including breakfast.
3. Entrants must be aged 21 or over.
4. The hotel prize is not transferable and is only valid for those aged 21 and over.
5. All entries will have an equal chance to win the prize. A winner will be drawn from all entries on a random draw basis. The first-drawn will be notified in writing on 31 July 2024. The prize will only be confirmed with a reply to acknowledge the prize notification. Three attempts will be made to contact the first-drawn. Should the first-drawn not respond within 7 days, they forfeit and the prize will be awarded to a second-drawn or third-drawn entrant under same conditions.
6. The prize must be claimed by booking with the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok before 15 September.
7. The booked two-night stay must be taken before 5 December.
8. Booking is subject to room availability.
