Kate is a freelance journalist and stylist based between Dubai and London, writing about travel, fashion, art and design for titles such as Elle Arabia, Harpers Bazaar Arabia, Vogue.co.uk, Dazed & Confused, Wired, and Conde Nast Traveller. Having spent the last 17 years living in the UAE, she’s built up quite the tolerance for heat, so if she’s not styling the latest fashion editorial for the region’s top magazines, you’ll find her dipping her toes in the sea most days.
Which country or location most inspires you?
I’m always inspired every time I come back to London. The grittiness and rawness are the antitheses of Dubai’s polished feel, so I always feel revived coming home.
Where would you go back to, and why?
I spent five days in Seoul just before the pandemic hit and it wasn’t nearly long enough, so I’d love to go back and explore more of South Korea. I loved everything about the fashion, culture, and, of course, their commitment to fantastic skin.
Top insider tip for Dubai?
Forget the big chain hotels and explore Dubai’s independent food scene. Have sushi at 3 Fills by the fishing harbour, lobster rolls at The Maine and finish off with cookie dough and pretzel ice cream at Temple Creamery.
What journey would you most like to go on?
I’d love to drive across Canada from Newfoundland to the Alaska border. The idea of wide open spaces with nothing but nature for miles fills me with joy.
