Jess Ho has never been able to escape food. They grew up in Chinese restaurants, worked in some of Melbourne’s most prolific venues, toured wine events across the country, reviewed for countless publications, had un unfortunate stint as a judge on a commercial food show, opened their own wine bar, was the food and drink editor for Time Out Melbourne, produced and hosted an award-winning podcast (Bad Taste), and authored the acclaimed hospitality memoir Raised by Wolves. Highlights from their career include that one time their car almost didn’t make it to Bruce Pascoe’s farm while racing to interview him at 9am after being on the road for eight hours; somehow not embarrassingly blabbering ‘I love you’ to Asma Khan when chairing her event at The Wheeler Centre; and being one of the reasons why David Thompson missed his flight back to Thailand in 2012. Jess is a freelance author and editor, and still, but not always, writes about food.
