What does a journey mean to you?
Experience and learning.

Which other country or location most inspires you?
Gosh, I can’t mention just one. I think the beauty of travelling is to expand one’s horizons and to build cultural knowledge. I guess that’s why travel is great and as important as formal education. I do however have a personal soft spot for Italy, the land where Stendhal syndrome originated, an experience causing rapid heartbeat, fainting, confusion, and even hallucinations, allegedly occurring when one is exposed to objects, artworks, or phenomena of great beauty, which to me is a constant risk in Italy, meant in the most positive way.

Where would you go back to, and why?
South Tyrol! I have visited several times over the years and will probably have it on my list again for 2025. There’s just something about the mountain air; the alpine nature is so pure and boasts amazing hikes and charming cities with a food scene that’s been visionary in seasonal and local produce before that was “a thing”. It’s an overlooked destination for summer, and I highly recommend it — it’s a few degrees lower in temperature, and it feels healing and rejuvenating.

Top insider tip for Copenhagen?
In Frederiksberg hides a jewel of a deli, Auren’s Deli — the kind of place you want to let the world know about, but also want to keep for yourself. Their sandwiches are scrumptious as are their cakes, salads and groceries and natural wine. Another great meal can be had at Sommer Canteen (headed by former owner and founder of Lille Bakery) located in Tårbæk, Northern Zealand, just a 30-minute train ride from Copenhagen. For art, Davids Samling — once a private collection of C.L. David and now a free museum across King’s Garden, is noted for its collection of Islamic Art from the 8th to the 19th century, and also holds fine and applied art from Europe in the 18th century and the Danish Golden Age as well as a small collection of Danish early modern art.

What journey would you most like to go on?
The list is long, and sometime feels overwhelming as I have such an appetite for experiencing all continents, countries and cultures. I dream of exploring the Scottish Highlands, Transylvania and Kyrgyzstan both for their mountains and the impeccable traditions in artisanal crafts such as embroidered textile. For the time being I am looking forward to a longer winter escape to Sri Lanka, before some squeezed in short trips to Austria, Paris and more.
